Business and management: Overview

Welcome

Welcome to the Business and management guide. Throughout the guide's sections you'll find our suggestions for key resources and information in this subject area.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Getting help researching and using Library resources:

  • Look through the Finding Resources Guide for advice on getting started with searching and use the comprehensive Help sections in individual databases
  • Look out for Information Literacy, referencing and database training in your modules (if there aren't any, ask your module leader to invite us to speak at a lecture or organise a workshop)
  • Attend Information and digital literacy training in the LibSmart programme - classeswill be a mixture of online and face to face this year.  Upcoming workshops are listed elsewhere on this page, or see the LibSmart guide for more details. Alice, one of your subject librarians, runs the workshops on Bloomberg, Market Research and Citation Searching, and there are many other great workshops run by other librarians
  • Get help from the librarian on duty at our LibSmart service, Monday - Friday, 1-4pm. The LibSmart point is on the first floor of the Library, near the business books. We'll let you know on Twitter @BBSLibrarian when the business librarians will be available each week.
  • Book an appointment (usually over MS Teams) using the link on this page. If there aren't any available then email us (we try to make them available a few weeks in advance, but don't always manage this!)
  • Email us saying what you'd like help with

To get you started, here are the key shelfmark areas for your subject. The floor information is for books; print journals will have the same shelfmark but all journals are on the third floor.

Recorded lectures for Business students

These videos were recorded in September 2022, to share with new and continuing students. Let us know if there other topics you'd like videos on.

These are recorded lectures on more varied topics, also of relevance to business students:

Recordings of training on some other topics are available, but not currently in a format to share with everyone online - if there's something you want access to, email and ask if I have training available.

Search Library resources

Our discovery tool will look for books, journal articles and more in one quick easy search - a great place to start your research. For a more comprehensive search, individual databases offer greater functionality and give full access to a tailored suite of resources for your subject.
