This service is aimed solely at students who are working remotely and unable to come to campus. This service is unavailable to students living on campus. Please only use this service if you aren’t able to visit the Library in person and there is no e-book available. Always check the Library website before placing your request.
This service allows you to request books up to your borrowing limit. However, you may only request 3 books per request form. The service is restricted to UK addresses only. We will post books to you free of charge via the Royal mail recorded delivery service.
Either watch the instructional video on this page (you can expand it to full screen) or continue reading to learn how to request a postal loan.
Requesting a postal loan
Search the Library catalogue for the book(s) you need.Items eligible for reservation will appear with a Click and Collect button and a Click and Post button alongside them.
The Click and Post button takes you to the Click and Post form. On this form, you will need to note the author, title, edition, publication year, call number and status for each book.
Requests are actioned during our opening hours and we will aim to post out the book(s) to you within 3 working days. You will be emailed when the books have been dispatched and will require a signature on delivery.
Your books will be checked out to your account for 4 weeks and will automatically renew for another 4 weeks a further 6 times (i.e. 28 weeks in total) unless they have been reserved by another user.
Returning a postal loan
If you receive an email informing you that your book(s) have been recalled, you must return them by the new recall due date on the email. If they are not returned, recall overdue charges will apply. You can log in to the Library catalogue and select ‘My account’ to check the due dates.
You are responsible for returning your library books, however if you are still unable to return them in person the link to the free return service is in the “Item(s) on their way” email we sent you. If you do not have this please email the Library and we will send you instructions.
