Covid-19 support portal: Overview

Introduction

The Library has put in place new services to support students during the Covid-19 pandemic.

We have reconfigured our Bannerman Library space to introduce various health and safety measures to protect students and our staff, including capacity and access restrictions. Student users are expected to maintain safe study and working environment by following handwashing and sanitation guidelines displayed and respect the Student Code of Conduct with its new Brunel Community Pledge so we all remain safe. In line with government guidance, face coverings are mandatory for all Library users. This is subject to the usual exclusions for medical reasons. Face coverings are available to purchase from the vending machine in the Bannerman Foyer or from Costcutter.

 

Users will need to book a study space in advance in order to use the Library via our new booking system – please see this guide for more details. We are pleased to provide over 400 study spaces in the Library to support your learning. These are located across all 4 floors on the Bannerman centre and include desks with PCs and desks with and without power sockets.

We are operating a no ID no entry policy at the Library Welcome Desk to help us meet government track & trace requirements using our entry/exit turnstiles.

 

We are offering a Click & Collect service to all students and academic staff. You can request items from our print stock and collect them without needing to enter the Library itself – please see this guide for more details. And of course, our extensive online collections and services remain available to all our users.

Alternatively, browsing of items on shelves is still permitted once you have booked a seat but we ask that you leave any consulted items you do not need on special trolleys on each floor before you leave so we can quarantine them for you.

 

For students who are working remotely and unable to come to campus we offer the Click and Post service. For students that meet the eligibility criteria the Library will post out requested items to the user, it is however restricted to UK addresses only. please see this guide for more details.

 

For students studying remotely they can apply to use our Scan and Send service for a chapter or article from print books or journals in the Library for personal study or research. Requests are subject to copyright restrictions. please see this guide for more details.
