Overdue fines (excluding laptops): All item types and loan periods are charged at 50p per day, per item.
Recall charges: Long Loan items can be recalled, but only after you have had them for 1 week. When you receive a recall notice you have 7 days to return the item to us. If the item has not been returned by this date recall charges are applied at £2 per day.
Lost book invoices: Items more than 4 weeks overdue will be assumed to be lost and an invoice for the replacement costs will be applied to your Library account. If the item remains overdue for more than 30 days the invoice will be passed to Student Finance and become a University Bill. University Bills have to be paid, regardless of whether the item is eventually returned to the Library.
Laptop overdue fines: (Scheme being introduced Winter 2016) Laptops returned late are charged at £5 per hour or part of an hour.
Laptop repair / replacement invoices: Repair costs will be dependent on damage. Replacing a laptop due to damage or loss will be charged in the region of £700.
You can pay Library fines in the following ways:
Online: Just log in to your Library account and select 'Review My Account'. This will show you the fines on your account and give you an option to pay all or specific fines using your credit or debit card.
Self Service: See the guide on paying at the Self-Issue machine using cash or card payments.
Help Desk: You can make cash payments in person at the Help Desk.
If fines on your account reach £20 (including fines still accruing from overdue items) then an automatic block is applied which will stop you renewing or borrowing further items - as fines will still accrue it is important that you always notify us of any problems with returning or renewing overdue items.
If you believe a fine or charge has been wrongly applied to your account, or would like us to take mitigating factors into account then please send an email to Library@Brunel.ac.uk giving full details.
If you have incurred charges which have led to a block being placed on your account, and you are unable to pay them in a single transaction, speak to Help Desk staff about setting up a part payment agreement.
